Business Mileage

I'm a bit confused as to how much vat we can claim. Company car does 2673 business miles engine size 1400cc, claiming £295.64. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for replies.

    Hi there,

Not sure if this will help I got this from google. If you lease a car, you can usually claim 50% of the VAT . You may be able to reclaim all the VAT if the car is used only for business and is not available for private use, or is mainly used: as a taxi. for driving instruction.

Plus HMRC link on cars: https://www.gov.uk/reclaim-vat/cars

Hope this helps you with your question

    Kind regards

If it is a company car, the VAT you can claim on fuel depends on whether the car has any private use (see P11D form).

Your company car appears to do business mileage only so claim all the VAT related to that fuel. However, if it does any private mileage (i.e. the employee can take the car home) you need to keep detailed records to ensure you can justify your VAT reclaim.
