What would be the health & safety at work regulations applicable in the following circumstance.<BR>Replies with authoritative sitings welcome.<BR>scenario 1:<BR>Sole practitioner working from home no staff and no members of public visiting for work purpose (You visit your clients or prospective clients on their own premises)<BR>scenario 2:<BR>Same as 1 above but + members of public visiting you at your own place of work (Home) for business purposes.<BR>scenario 3: <BR>same as 1 above + you have employee/s (P/time)<BR>scenario 4: <BR>same as 2 above + you have employee/s (P or F/time)<BR>

As far as I am aware, scenario 1 is the only one not requiring more than home-based H&S. Whenever you have employees or non-staff at the premises, you are obligated to care for their welfare.<BR><BR>Of course, in scenario 1, you would have to take local laws into account. If you ran a sawmill in your back garden, then the neighbours would have the right to complain about the noise! If you had dangerous machinery in your garden, then you would have to ensure that it is protected so that other non-business visitors aren't affected or in danger. So, you would not want your children to be able to harm themselves on you sawmill. Such activities would likely require planning consent.<BR><BR>Mike<BR>
