I am at Technicial level and would like to go self employed, can I legally prepare clients accounts whilst at Technician level, or will I have to qualify first?

Technician Level
Hi

In reality any one can prepare accounts regardless of qualification or not, though there are certain requirements for accounts of limited companies above the audit threshold. Since you're an AAT student you'll need to abide by the AAT ethical standards. You want your self employed experience to count towards your membership requirement, you'll need to have it supervised or complete the experience requirement after gaining technician level and have it confirmed by an appropriate professional.

If you want to prepare statutory accounts for a limited compnay thats above the audit threshold, you'll need to fully qualify as an auditor.

Hope this helps.

Neil0
