Anyone good with excel?

Hi - is there anyone out there who knows this excel question?

I am trying to format a minus figure and show it into brackets. If I put the figure into brackets it auto formats to the minus figure, but I want to keep the brackets!

Can anyone help?!

    Hi Zoe.

    You need to set the number format to 'accounting'. Either use Format -> Cells from the main menu bar or right click and use 'format cells' from the pop-up menu. You can also use the comma button on the toolbar (this also puts in decimal places so you'll have to use the decrease decimal button to get rid of them if you don't want them)

    It's a good idea to format all the numbers (apart from dates) as 'accounting' as it slighty changes the alignment too.

    Try going to format cells, go to number tab find custom at the bottom of the list find #,##0.00;-#,##0.00, select this then when it appears in the type box remove the minus and replace with a bracket and put a bracket at the end #,##0.00;(#,##0.00)
