Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
Can I confess that I never noticed the error?
All the data had to be within that given for the question, so I just extracted what I needed.0 -
Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
I didn't notice the error either baggybooks, thought it was obvious where the needed information was and didn't even look at the page number specified. I was too busy trying to get out of the exam room.0 -
Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
As I've already said, I think the assessor will think the same.
But it is unfair if anyone wasted time and then became confused.
The debate continues...0 -
Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
does prove I should really read the questions more carefully, I didn't even realise it mentioned a page, what other information could I have ignored. :?0 -
Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
Trust me, you are not alone in your thinking!

Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
Yes, I did.0 -
Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
will it be the same person who wrote Mondays exam for DFS and PCR? :?0 -
Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
I don't know. If so, they were probably having a sleepless night last night!0 -
Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
I was thinking obviously got out the wrong side of bed the morning he/she decided to write PEV.0 -
Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
Just filled in the online survey,
Thankfully you can seperate your opinions on each section, as I thought section 1 was fine.
Hopefully something will happen if more people give their views.0 -
Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
Well, I feel that we are being taken for a ride!! We pay all of this money to the AAT to get our qualifications and they can't even edit their own papers!!
We should have all learnt our lesson by now, last sitting the FRA examiner put in an example in the AAT Mag and it was incorrect, so I guess we should not expect too much!
I thought these papers were written by people that actually have degrees.....I am thinking that I may be wrong!
The more I read, the more stressed I get, I still have DFS and PCR to sit, what am I getting myself in for!!
And to the AAT person that reads this....WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING WITH THE MONEY THAT I SEND YOU!!!! :?: :?: :?:
I pay for the great privilege of sitting an exam that has errors in it, I subscribe to a magazine that has errors in it!!! This is just rubbish, if I did not want to get recognition for my hard work and be able to put some letters after my name, so I can advance my career and better my wage, then, at this present time I would tell the AAT to jump in the lake with their fees!
PS. DO YOU WANT TO BORROW MY GLASSES SO YOU CAN PICK UP ON YOUR ERRORS

Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
I too noticed to error regarding the page numbers but I just assumed to use the data on the wrong page.
I can understand peoples frustrations if they have wasted time though.
I am so disheartened by my section 2 though, after I thought I might have done section 1 quite well, this is not the first time I have taken this paper.
I wonder if there is a point with these exams where you say enough is enough and just not do them. :?:0 -
Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
No! Don't worry, I'm sure by the time the results come out you will have regained your confidence.
Try and be cautiously optimistic.
As long as you managed to revise before the exams you will be fine.
What am I saying? I keep feeling awful!
Positive thoughts - they will see us through!

Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
Thanks Baggybooks,
Just revising for DFS at the moment, confidence is at an all time low but I am definitely trying to put that behind me for tomorrow.
Desperately trying to shut up the voice in my head saying 'why bother', as I am trying to learn my accounting standards.

Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
hi
this is not the first time I have taken this either but the whole point is you have come this far you owe it to yourself to keep going. We can't change our answers but have given it our best shot.
hope you feel better soon about things. ann0 -
Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
The voice is actually saying 'Worth the bother!'
MAAT - go for it!0 -
Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
Thanks Ann and Helen, I am fine and I know I tried my best and thats all I can do.
Just a bit disheartened with it at the moment as I can't see the end in sight.
Still good or bad I will be celebrating end of exams on thursday night I think

Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
heyup,
Sorry to tell you this but the decommissioning costs only needed to be included in the purchase option- not the rent. I did the same as you and i asked my tutor today and he said that you only need to include it in the purchase option because its a cost you incur when getting rid of the asset (something like that anyway!) Im gutted!!! Im sure i'd already failed section 2 anyway so i might aswell fce facts!!!

Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
Hey ho!
Can't change it now.
Although, I would argue the point that such a massive piece of equipment would involve some cost in it being removed - irrespective of who owned it.

Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
Thats a very valid point- i will argue it for you next week- HEHE!!! xxx

Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
Seriously, if I was doing a costing at work, I would have built it in.
Let's face it, we must be talking about a massive piece of machinery. Just the electrics would have been complicated.
And would other pieces of machinery need to be moved to make room for its removal, a wall knocked down? I could go on!

Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
To be perfectly honest i didnt even know what the word decommissioning meant- never come across it before and its certainly not a word from my vocabulary!!!
I just went on the logic that it mentioned it, so include it. fingers crossed eh!!!

Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
It's a term you hear in connection with nuclear plants etc. When they're shut down, they are decommissioned. Same with old ships etc.
Not sure I've read it in any AAT text books.0 -
Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
i had loads of problems when i got in the exam room. the examination woman didnt hand ont answer booklets then see give us two quetion booklets it took about 15mins to get sorted out. it did help my nerves, then when i got to that quetion that refered to the wrong page i got completely lost. section 2 was really hard for me having done life cycle costing. i hope thursday isnt a repet. oh forgot to mention the examination womans phone went off aswell.0 -
Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
I wish i knew all the things- im a right dumb ass at times!!!0 -
Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
TBH I didnt think the paper was hard compared to June 05. I couldnt even answer more than a few questions but other than the lifecycle as long as u show a good method and an attempt u can get something out of your answer. Better than putting nothing on ur paper right?0 -
Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
that is what i did, i think they made a mistake of the page number, they meant to write additional data on page 8 and not 6! this is the info that i used anyhow, the 2 options: renting and purchasing

Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
Sorry to change the subject - Is anyone sitting the exam for PCR tomorrow, if so please can someone explain to me about the stepped cost. I have been trying to do passed paper for June 2006 and it has this mentioned on it - I just can't get my head around how this works:
Budget is for 50000 and maintenance charge 275 and if this increase by the same amount for every 10000 units or part of 10000 units- what would the maintence charge be for 72000 volume. Please help?0 -
Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
Hi, I can help yo with that-
You need to calculate the budgeted bit first so do 275000/55000 = 5.5
Then multiply this by 10000 (for every 10000 thst is produced)- 5.5 x 10000 = 550000
Then because the actual volume is 72000 you need to vclculate the cost for 80000 so.........
550000 x 8= 440000.
Hope this makes sense!!! I wouldn't worry about the June 06 paper if i was you. I dont think it will be anything like this one as its too soon. Im concentrating on December 03 & 04 as the exam we had on Monday seemed to be more like these ones. Saying that though its a different examiner who has written the paper to the one who wrote PEV's so lets hope its better than Mondays.
Good luck with it. Im dreading it

Re:PEV Todays Exam!!!
I have to say apart from the errors in the paper like page numbers and incomplete information, the actual questions weren't as horrific as I'd been expecting.
As for the lifecycle costing question, I'm glad my tutor wasn't the only one to have missed it out of our teaching. I only knew what it was from screening the index of my book to make sure I knew what every word in it meant the night before.
I heard a rumour that if enough people get it wrong they won't include it as part of the paper when working out who's passed.
