Re:PCR todays exam
Hi all!
I'm just glad that they are both over and I can have my evenings back! I have thought about nothing other than variances, budgets, flexed and actuals for days now  and I'm glad to put them to bed......well at least until next year when have to resit them both!!! Ha ha.
I'm not even going to look at any answers through fear of realising I made a complete boo boo,
when I feel at the moment that I did OK. Think I made a messy blag for the final memo though, not even sure if I covered what was being asked of me. But it's too late now! 0 -

Re:PCR todays exam
Well I think that question 1.2 was one of the worst worded questions I had come across, and it could be interpreted many different ways.
I read the question that you had to adjust production to match sales.
that was after I tried to do it 3 other ways that was possible according to the question.
Managed to complete it with 2 minutes to spare, and I'm normally out of the exams at least 45 minutes early.
I think 25% of our class struggled with that one - the rest was nice and easy, but why didn't we get nice round figures like all the past papers - it made be doubt all my calculations!

Re:PCR todays exam
I got an out of office reply when trying to send it to Samantha so my email must be working. Hmmmm.... dunno... anyways I'll type it a bit on here what I did is took the 60000 you could produce each period took off the 3% fauly production to give you 58200, therefore in period 1 with 50000 unit sold closing stock could be 8200 maximum, therefore in period 2 with 54000 units sold and 8200 opening stock closing stock could be maximum of 12400 and so on. Hope this is right............ ?????????0 -
Re:PCR todays exam
vanir it doens't look like my emails are being received so I have just wrote up what I did, hope this makes sense. I set this out in a production budget properly.0 -
Re:PCR todays exam
I guess the fact that no one has replied means I made no sense whatever, lol, and should expect a big F in Feb0 -
Re:PCR todays exam
It didn't actually state that you had to produce goods to use all the available materials
I read it that you had to produce finished goods to meet sales0 -
Re:PCR todays exam
but it asked for a new production budget.0 -
Re:PCR todays exam
god knows, we'll see in february lol. Wouldn't suprise me if I failed all three. Oh well never mind.
You got a thing about slightly crazy photos mad dog?0 -
Re:PCR todays exam
That sounds about right. I was trying to do that, but couldn't get my head around it. So i just ignored the closing stock and faulty production and produced only 60000 each month.
thanks for your help0 -
Re:PCR todays exam
Your new sales forecast figures look pretty similar to mine Kay, i think.0 -
Re:PCR todays exam
I thought the calcualtions were ok except that they had to rounded up but somewhere on the paper it did say to do that.
Also when it camer to labour hours total available in each period was 400 x 35 x 4=56000 however the no of key fits was something like 7060 3hrs each to make 21180hrs never seen that much of a difference between avaiable & required for production. Or have I missed the point completely. Then trying to work a sales & production budget with only 120,000 kilos available 2to each keyfit 60,000 prod for 58200 sales
I think I got myself tied up in knots. Also I had a variance of 10 but I dont remember writting A next to it.
Must get on with sorting out Chirstmas now
Merry Chistmas to everybody

Re:PCR todays exam
oh yes thanks 'kay'i got 8200 closing unit in period 1 but i got differnt figure in period 2.i did reschedule in material pueches budget0 -
Re:PCR todays exam
Kay - that was my facial expression when trying to understand 1.2!
I did do a new production budget, based on just meeting the sales.
The whole question contradicted itself between questions!
The first part read something like - due to material limits, the management have asked you to re-forecast so that production meets the budgeted sales.
I did write it out at one point to produce 60,000 units every month but that seemed to jack up the stock levels too high0
