Does anyone know what the "10digit unique taxpayers reference number" is please? and where to find it!

I am trying to register a client as an employer on hmrc website, but it needs this number for each director. :?

    Hi

    The UTR number is on the front page of their Tax Return, with the description 'Tax Reference'.

    I actually find phoning to register new employers is quicker and easier than doing it online - so much for technology!
