self-employed

i'm thinking about maybe doing some self-employed work once i've complete intermediate - just basic bookkeeping stuff for local sole traders and partnerships.
Can i actually do this without getting into trouble with the AAT? I've had a bit of expereince, and would just be using excel spreadsheets and things, so not much of a cost to me in that sense.
Or is it better just to register with IAB and go down that route? :? I love the prep part of accounts, so maybe it is. I'd only be working from home (maybe a small office one day...*daydreams*).
I'd obv still study to finish AAT Tech. Would feel guilty for dropping out early otherwise.

    Anyone can do bookkeeping.

You should only take on work that you are competent to do, and must NOT make any reference to the AAT.

Great. So that's ok - i'm not confident enough in other stuff (tax returns, etc) to do them anyway. So i'll just stick firmly to pure basic bookkeeping - debits, credits to trial balance.
