Re:Proposal
When you're in Spain - no doubt the weather will be perfect for an outdoor proposal.... what events or activities are available that your better half loves doing or has dreamt of doing for ages - maybe racing a horse down the beach or swimming with sea-life....
try and integrate the proposal into one of her chosen activities to make her feel even more special than she alreayd is :-) (cue sick bucket)
If she isn't expecting it, then I reckon to be in with a good chance of acceptance that you have to both be in a good mood (doesn't mean get her plastered and merry - like Ross and Rachel in friends).
Listen to me go on - i'm no expert, i've only done it the once :-) but it was a nice time. Although would have been better if we were in another country rather than England!
At the end of the day (Oh how I hate that phrase) it's down to you, you are the only one that can ask her to marry you - I for one think you'll be fine mate. When are you away?...0 -
Re:Proposal
Trust me - you don't need to plan this. Keep the ring handy and just ask when you feel the time is right.
The question (and answer!) is the most important thing - not where or how.

Re:Proposal
We are going away at the end of April, so Ive got a few weeks to think about it!
That might a better idea Baggy!0 -
Re:Proposal
Why wait?
You're only going to worry more and more.

Re:Proposal
Because I cant think of anywhere to do it here, and with Spain round the corner it seems a good plan. I know what you mean though, it would be better if I could0 -
Re:Proposal
You will know exactly when it's the right time.
Like I say, keep the ring handy - 'cos you never know!

Re:Proposal
Yeah, Helen has it right - i'm just too fussy :P
What would you prefer, to have a holiday between Boyfriend and Girlfriend or have your first holiday together as an Engaged couple?0 -
Re:Proposal
As Helen says, it's the answer that really matters, what if she says "no" and you are in Spain, it may ruin your holiday? You know your girlfriend, would she like it to be quiet, down on one knee at home spontaniously or does she like to have some attention. Good luck, I think it's lovely.

Re:Proposal
I know she will say yes so thats not an issue really. I think she would like it quiet, I might take her somewhere picturesque :?0 -
Re:Proposal
The more you think about it, the more anxious you'll be. She'll pick up on that and worry too.
If you have the ring and you have the girl, what's the problem?

Re:Proposal

Re:Proposal
Mate if your in spain noone will know you so noone will care other than you and the missus (to be)
I proposed at the top of the Eiffel Tower, i was bricking it and nearly bottled but if yyou love her enough to propose in the first place surely getting on one knee to ask cant be that bad, believe me mate once your on your knee and u have asked you will feel so much better, its an amazing feeling when she says yes!!
Good Luck Fella0 -

Re:Proposal
I remember when my husband proposed. We were walking through a lonely graveyard, it was twilight and the bats had begun to fly out from the ruined Church tower. He took my hand in his, and asked me,
"How do you fancy being buried with my name on the headstone?"
It seemed a reasonable offer, I couldn't think why I should refuse. We are divorced now. Ah well0 -
Re:Proposal
Congratulations Paul!

Re:Proposal
Ahhhh. Sounds pretty much like the way I did it, well except for the sun bit. We had to run for the car when it started raining. Things went pear shaped later on but that's another sadder story.Paul22 wrote:At the edge of the sea, on a secluded cove in Cornwall in the sun, on Saturday evening, on one knee and everything!0 -
Re:Proposal
Congratulations Paul
I proposed to my husband in a coffee shop late on a Friday afternoon. 9 years on and it still seems like yesterday.
So whens the big day?0 -
Re:Proposal
We do have some rare romantics on this forum don't we
My husband proposed to me on a christmas morning, on one knee. We were spending it in a remote cottage in Scotland, the snow had fallen overnight so it was beautiful and it was perfect. What's the wedding plans? Anything unusual? We got married in an aircraft hanger full of Hunter Jets, we had a spitfire and hunter flyby, then had a swing band for the evening reception, it was great fun

Re:Proposal
Congratulations !!
Sounds like the most ideal situation, I'm glad it all went well !
My proposal went like this 'When are we getting married then ?'
We were married within a year 5 years ago

Re:Proposal
It looks like it will will be 2009, as my FIANCEE (
) is looking for a job in the dreaded NHS this year, so we have to wait to see where she will be working, as we could be moving anywhere in the country! Ill leave the intricate details up to her for the day though :? 0 -
Re:Proposal
If I had the money I would do it tomorrow. But there's other things right now to spend thousands on.. I can't wait for my wedding though... gunna be the mutts nutts.0
