CIS authorisation

Is anyone else having problems with online authorisation? I'm getting through my self assessment ones but all the CIS ones submitted say code sent but the client never gets the code before it expires. It seems odd that it's the CIS clients and no other.

Or am I doing something hideously wrong? :?

I've had problems with the CIS verification online.

I did a couple in April and still haven't heard - but via the telephone there isn't a problem.

I still haven't had my monthly return from HMRC yet for the period 6th June to 5th July! Surely I should have had this by now since I'm supposed to file by this coming 19th?

Also, some of the subbies I've verified aren't appearing on the supposed pre-populated list.
I've phoned HMRC again and they've said they never recorded them despite giving me the verification numbers!

    Duh!

I finally managed to get these clients authorised so we can submit their returns online. I did the first one and only realised after I submitted it that the date automatically defaults to the next month, therefore I've filed August's return instead of July's!! Just rang online services and I've got to submit August's on paper to sort it all out and then I can go back to online filing.

They said I'm not the first and they've made representations as it's very badly designed (still my fault for missing it though)and hopefully it will get sorted soon.

I contacted the help desk a couple of weeks ago to register as a contractor, first I was given another telephone no. to ring which wasn't answered, when I rang help line again, was told they'd arrange for everything to be done and I would hear in about 5 working days. I've just got back from a long weekend away to find the monthly return sat on my desk - no contractor pack or instructions.
    :?

Suppose I'll just have to try again ..and again...

I have the opposite of you, Jan!

I registered as a contractor (or at least thought I had) the other company I occasionally do some work for, only to receive our contractors pack but no UTR number or other documentation!

    Double duh!

Just verified subby by phone - easy peasy!

Don't know what the pack contains, but keep printing out online help to find out what's required. Good job I booked myself on Revenue course last March otherwise I'd be completely lost.

Yeah, verifying subbies is easy as long as they log the details and you don't have to it again the following month!

Monthly CIS return finally came this morning - only about a week late. Just have to make sure I do likewise with my payment, won't I?

Am I the only one that loves the new system?

I verify by phone and do my monthly return on-line.

I wouldn't go so far as to say I love HMRC, but I do like the new CIS.

Well verifying over the phone is certainly easy, I'll give the online system for the return a go next month!

The only thing to look out for on the on-line return is that, if you've added any subcontractors since the last one, you might have to click on something to bring those in too.

I missed it, and couldn't understand where my new ones were - but I soon spotted it, so I expect it was just me!
