Hello!

I am after a bit of advise if anyone can help.....

I have just taken the intermediate exams & will hopefully be starting technician in september.

However, the college I go to can do this course over 1 year (sitting two exams december then two in June, plus the project and everything else!)

Has any one done this? how did they find it?

Any advise will help as I unsure whether to take it over the year or two years!!

    Hi Charlottie
It is possible to do Technician in 1 year- I did, but it does depend on what other committments you have at home and at work.
When I did technician I was lucky enough to be given day release to college by my employer.
If you are fortunate to have this, then my advice would be to go for it but get an early start as possible on the project.
Another thing to take into consideration is that it is quite a step up from Intermediate and I recommend that you put a few more hours in studying than you would have done in intermediate.

    Good luck

I agree it is douable in 1 year but you must get an early start on your project. You must also be prepared for a step up in degree of difficulty and volume of work. While you are on a roll and feeling confident go for it!!

I personally didn't think the move from Intermediate to Technician was as great as the huge leap from Foundation to Intermediate. DFS is just a natural progression from FRA - lots more to learn but I wouldn't say necessarily tougher. However, I agree the volume is much much greater at Tech. So much so that while I had intentions of doing Tech in one year the same as everyone else on my course, due to external constraints I've ended up deferring part of it halfway through the year to split it over two instead.

I'd rather spend time studying the subjects in sufficient depth and sitting the exams comfortably than stressing over lack of time and study commitments and going in only half prepared. Fear of failure will ultimately lead to failure.

So if you have the time, determination and resolve, you can do it over one year but don't be afraid to reconfigure your goals if things change externally.

    Regards,
