Thinking of moving to Milton Keynes. Any advice?

I currently live in Manchester having moved there from Kent just a couple of months ago, but have recently decided its just not for me.
A couple of my friends are going to share a flat in Milton Keynes, and this is just one of my options (other than moving back to Canterbury).
Can anyone shed any light on what its like in MK? All I've heard is that its a new town, and is all pretty artificial. I've been there a few times, but wondered what it'd be like to live there.

Re:Thinking of moving to Milton Keynes. Any advice?
Hi Wayne,
I presume your moving 'cos you're being transferred to the mk dons. don't drop anything on your foot during the move.
Seriously though, I would suggest testing the area out first. Flat share with your mates first of all.
Try it for 3 months like you have done Manchester, this way you can leave your options open. I moved to Derbyshire 3 years ago and I hate it. At least you haven't got property to sell (I presume). I should have stayed in Cumbria which I love and that was after moving from London after 23 years. (Wot a mistake!)
have a look at http://www.upmystreet.com and
http://www.chavtowns.co.uk they're a good indicator of what most people feel about a place. Sadly the grass is not greener on the other side, just green and in some places more of a sludgy brown colour.0 -

After a pm from Blobbyh pointing your post out (I completely missed the post thanks to the b****y forums not colouring new posts properly again), I can only advise you that I love Milton Keynes!
It is a new town so if you're looking for history you need to go up the road about 5 miles to Stony Stratford (where the original 'cock and bull story' saying came from)! Being a new town there are many roundabouts, concrete cows etc but it's great.
I've lived here for 17 years and I would recommend it.

Sorry - is he the administrator? I thought Anna was?0 -
Re:Thinking of moving to Milton Keynes. Any advice?
Sara - I think he's vice administrator, he's the one who complains about all the saucy posts!
For anyone new reading this - it is tongue in cheek and blobbyh is a much respected and admired poster.0 -

I don't think we have any administrators anymore since they got left behind in the recent big AAT move. Roll on the inevitable Forum crashes next Tuesday/Wednesday!bluewednesday wrote:Sara - I think he's vice administrator, he's the one who complains about all the saucy posts!
Hmmmmmmmmmmm............ not sure about that Annette, but I do try to never be boring!bluewednesday wrote:For anyone new reading this - it is tongue in cheek and blobbyh is a much respected and admired poster

Hey, 'cos I'm a bit anal at times (but isn't everyone in our trade?), did you notice your post count is the same as your name Sara81?
Plus, I'm now only 16 posts behind Annette - it's taken me months to get within sniffing distance of her...

Not to me, M.
Take me as you find me, I'm sure the quality measures up. I've never had any complaints :P Well, apart from when the doc called me a fat so and so :oops:0 -
Re:Thinking of moving to Milton Keynes. Any advice?
Absolutely! Just think when we go to the super market for example. Don't we all look for the biggest fruit/veg/meat to put in our baskets or trolleys, when we cut cakes we go for the biggest bit, oh the list is endless....

Anal? Administrators? Are you letting that stay?
So, Sara81 has posted 81 times. Wow!
Where would we be without Robert's analysis of these threads?
