Hi all,

Can anyone help me? I am a MIP recently set up and only have a few clients currently.
I have had a request today for help setting up a ltd company but have never done this before and have no experience.
Can anyone help me?

Thanks

Emma

    Re:Limited company

Be very wary about offering services for which you do not have sufficient experience - it only leads to headaches and sleepless nights in the long run.

If it is just getting a company formed at companies house then the procedure is very simple. If you look at my website (www.mmi-online.co.uk) there is a link at the bottom to set up a company. It links to the formation agent I use and they are very good.

    Dean,

That is what i am concerned about, but then how do i gain the experience to be able to offer this service?

I know what i've studied but have never done it myself.

Would you recommend i pass on your weblink to my enquirer?

    Cheers

You should try to gain as much experience as you can before becoming an MIP. Once you are out on your own it is very hard to broaden your range of skills and services.

One way of getting more experience is to do some subcontract work for another firm if you can. Or maybe offer your services part-time to another firm so that you still have time to build up your own client base.

Going on courses and learning things from this forum (and the accountingweb forum) are all positive steps to expanding your knowledge but nothing is better than being shown how to do things from someone that already can.

Feel free to use or pass on the link. Let me know if you have any problems with it.
