Hi Robert,
I can't reply to the thread I started on Sunday about my computer problems because it has now disappeared.
The IT guy has sorted my problem out with Microsoft - he said there was a virus present in the email that caused the initial problem and then he went on about something to do with the "registry" (whatever that is).
I've lost all my emails but he has managed to save my spreadsheets.
Thanks for your help anyway.

Re:FAO Robert
Only just seen this even though it's two days old now!
I assume this was your work computer Steve so are you keeping your anti-virus patterns up to date?
Do you also have System Restore turned on since you mentioned there was a problem with this? Go to Start-Control Panel-System-System Restore and just check that the "turn off" box hasn't been ticked. You can also allocate the amount of disc space it uses but if you have a massive hard drive, I wouldn't worry about this too much. Of course, if you had a virus it's more than likely that this interfered with System Restore thus preventing you rolling back to a pre-infection state but I'd still check anyway.
Regards,
Robert

Re:FAO Robert
I can never do a system restore on my new pc.
Now I know why...0 -
Re:FAO Robert
Actually I don't. That setting was fine, and yet I still can't restore to an earlier time.
I specifically tested it last night by creating a restore point, but today it wouldn't let me.
