Hangmans Hill in Epping, Essex - Creepy.

Hey you lot anyone ever been to hangmans hill in Epping ?

For you lot that havent heard of it....

Theres a slip road in Epping that makes up a triangle of small roads. A couple of these roads are uphill. You park your car at the bottom of the hill, engine and power off, then i dont know how, but the car some how gets pulled up the hill !!!

Even parking the car backwards it starts reversing by itself. I had to sit in to guide it because backwards it picks up some speed.

Check it out on youtube:

Anyone else seen anything like this ??

These sorts of optical illusions are pretty familiar to most cyclists who call them false flats – you're on what seems like a flat or even downhill piece of road and yet you struggle to get anywhere*. Hagman's Hill seems like a particularly extreme example but little more.

Looking at the YouTube comments, it seems like a well-dodgy area to be spending time in anyway.

*And that's not just 'cos these days I'm so unfit that even cycling downhill's a struggle!

There is a road like that on the coast road to Girvan in Ayrshire, called the Electric Brae. You think you are going uphill but you are going down and vice-versa

I was telling my other half about Hangmans Hill and he said he'd heard of this and it is something to do with the Magnetic Force underground??????

Couldnt get anymore information than that as he was watching Coronation Street at the time!

This conversations took a really strange turn....

From underground magnetic forces to Coronation Street.

    These forums know no bounds...

Anyway back to more pressing matters......

Apparently it only takes an average of 4.6 posts for a thread to go off-topic in any given forum.

Also 95% of statistics are made up.

I experienced something similar to this in an accountancy exam once. I was thinking it was a credit when actually it was a debit. Weird.

Hello :001_smile: I have been working on that stupid portfolio! (Among many other things!)

I have decided to include my visit to the accountant somewhere in unit 23 as I think it would look good - good experience

I also heard that 107% people have problems with percentages and that 5 out of 4 can't do ratios. i sometimes keep switching between the two. usually when i'm doing the exams. :001_tt2:
