what a nightmare!!! section 2 the variances completely different, with two materials to calculated instead of the usual one!!

Section 1 is not easier too...how come the production is 5,000,000 units, each unit requires 10grams of plastic and the answer shows total plastic is 50,000?

For me should be 500,000!!!where I get wrong?

many thanks for any replies!

multiply by 0.01 as there are 1000 grams in kilogram

what about the 30000 blades? do you know how to get that amount?

    if each unit required 6 blades, 5.000.000/6 = 833.333??!?!?:confused1:

Each unit requires 6 blades, therefore 5,000,000 units x 6 = 30,000,000 total unit of blades

Total cost of blade is the total number of blades, 30,000,000 x ยฃ0.10 = ยฃ3,000,000

I just dont get the question at all!

example the total hours per 35 employees is 5600, then it says each employee can produce 1000 kwiks
so how come the required labour hours required for the production is 5000 (units 5,000,000/1000) when 1000kwiks is produce by 1 employee, not 35!!!

the number each employee can produce in this instance is irrelevant as there is no overtime required.
you only need to know how long it will take to produce what you need

I don't get it, there is overtime....
if the questions says that 1000 kwiks is produce by each employee, sure I have to multiply by 35 employees to get the total, no?

instead the answer assume that 1000kwiks is the total of units produced

    Labour
โ€ข Kwikshave Limited employs 35 people in production who each work a standard 8 hour day 5 day week.
โ€ข Each month has exactly 20 working days.
โ€ข Each employee can produce 1,000 kwiks per hour using one machine.

are you trying to do labour budget?

    yes, the question is:

calculate (c) direct labour hours budget in hours and ยฃ

    Answer for month 1

    Production 5,000,000
Units produced per labour hour 1,000
    Required labour hours 5,000
    Number of employees 35
    Available hours 5,600
    Hours at basic rate ยฃ5,600

I don't get the required labour hour of 5,000 if the 1000 is made by 1 employee, not 35!
