I have a simple question: If I join the membership today, when does it expire? 1st September 2017, November 2017 or 31st December of this year? It is not clear to me...

It is 12 months from the date you join. About month before your membership expires you'll receive a reminder from AAT to renew if you arent doing it by direct debit.1
