Fraction help

Please can somebody help me with fractions. I need to work out 1 4/5 + 3/10 and the method.

You need to convert the fractions so they have the same denominator (bottom number) so start by finding a common factor.
As 5 is a factor of 10, we can make that first fraction into 10ths. So to get 10 as the denominator we have to multiply the 5 by 2. We can't just multiply the bottom half of the fraction though, so also have to multiply the numerator by 2 as well. So we end up with 1 8/10 + 3/100
