How do you round these figures to get these answers?

    I believe in most cases it states whether to round up or round down, if it isn't specified then I you round down to nearest whole number if decimal is below .5, if the decimal is .5 and upwards your round the number up.

    e.g.

    £12.49 you would round down to £12.00
    £12.50 you would round up to £13.00

    I’ve just realised where I went wrong. I thought you had to round up each individual figure as appropriate, either up or down, and then add them all up. What I should’ve done was add them up all up as they are, including the pence, and then round the total down as the textbook does say.
