Can a Netflix subscription be an allowable expense

Hi,

A self-employed producer has asked if their Netflix subscription can be an allowable expense against tax. They say their friends who are also producers claim it, as it’s “research”.
I would think the answer is no?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    I am inclined to agree with you. A Netflix subscription is primarily for entertainment and I think HMRC would take a very dim view of anyone attempting to claim it as a research item.

    I would advise quite strongly against it. For how much a Netflix subscription costs it’s really not worth the risk!
