I’m a university research assistant. In late 2023, I had two jobs (40h + 8h), but since 01.01.2024, I have only one. My deductions for tax, health insurance, and pension are still higher than they should be. HR reported it to the salary office, but no action yet. Can I claim the overpayment via my tax return, especially for insurance and pension?

Hi @jamiesjohnson
I hope you are well?
Regarding your current job, speak to HR / Payroll department again to ensure they have put you on the right tax code to avoid you paying too much. As for your other job on my personal opinion I would suggest if you have overpaid on tax, speak to HMRC and explain your situation, if you have overpaid they will most likely provide you a refund.
Many thanks
