Is anyone else having real problems deciding on a topic for unit 10? I work for an accounts practice that has been estabolished for a number of years and I'm having problems as topics to write about are limited. :?

    I am also struggling with picking a topic. i work in an IT department, and sort of do purchase ledger - but is that enough to do a whole project on?

    I had problems starting my project too - I work for one of the Big 4 and found it hard to critise some things. I did however come up with an improvement in the end (on fee estimation) but due to the size of my company I couldn't implement it so I had to do a project top up. This was just an extra single sheet with a very minor implemented improvement - which I ended up exaggerating slightly.

    I spoke to loads of people to try and find a topic - the first one I thought of ended up out the window as senior management disaggreed with it and I didn't fancy getting the sack!

    thanks for your reply i spoke with my boss and he thinks that i should try and implementing an organised way of putting correspondance files and working papers together.

    Does anyone have such a system in place that they could advise me whether this will work?

    I did mine on cash handling. It sounds such a small subject, but when you get into it, it's surprising what you can find, so don't try to pick to big a project. If you work for an accounts practice, is there an improvement you could suggest for one of your clients?

    Hi

    My project was on tightening up the credit control procedures within the comapny I worked for at the time. I would have thought you could do your project on anything accounts related as long as it meets all of the criteria.
    Those who were in practice when I was at college looked at things like fee estimation, how jobs were allocated and reviewing procedures for ensuring clients files were up to date.

    Iv been thinking at work, and im going to do my project on stock control, and they way that is it managed (or not in my job). Anyone done this and can advise if it will work?

    thanks for your ideas, think i will concentrate on inproving the way clients files are put together. As i work for a company that has 5 partners and all partners have different ways.Im going to try and implement a procedure throughout the company.
