Hi all,
I got a question of writing a cheque, would that be acceptable by the bank if the 'writing side'of the cheque not clear (it seems has a mistake) but the 'number side' is very clear? Tt signed and date properly.
What is the standard of that?
Thanks

Re:Cheque
I wouldn't have thought that was acceptable as which side would the bank accept as the right side?
The words and figures on a cheque not agreeing makes the cheque invalid.

Re:Cheque
Hi
Apparently, banks can in theory accept a cheque when the numbers and word differ and 'go with' the wording/writing.
However, in practice banks wont accept a cheque where the words and numbers dont match.

Re:Cheque
How often do banks check and cheque (what a pun!) I have twice now banked an unsigned cheque, and it has not been noticed by either my bank or theirs - even more scarily a few years ago my husband wrote out a cheque from my sole account and guaranteed with a his sole account card - not noticed by the shop or either bank - it could have been interesting if I had complained.
I think that banks only look at high value cheques these days.
