Absent Tutors

Hi Everyone,
I have three tutors. One has not been in all term and another one walked out of our class last week, refusing to teach us. We have a reports and returns simulation next week, which I do not feel ready for and the FRA exam is coming up in June. What should I do? Should I complain and if so, who to?
Yours,
Jayne Hogan

    Re:Absent Tutors

Many years ago when I first began my AAT exams, we had a similar experience at my college. We were missing a tutor for one subject until Christmas, we were taught half of another subject by one tutor who put his notice in halfway through the year, then taught the other half of the subject by a different tutor who was taking two classes at the same time so she would appear, start us off on something and disappear for an hour before returning to summarise! The whole class put a petition together which we presented to the Head of the College and we also faxed it to the area Head office for Education. We didn't get a refund and we were still poorly taught, but we did achieve getting a replacement for the tutor who had put his notice in and more attention from the tutor taking two classes at the same time.

    Hope this helps.

    Re:Absent Tutors

At the college last year during the Intermediate level all the students were so angry by the lack of tuition, one of our tutors for Financial Accounts was in dispute of leaving his career at the college to indulge even more so into his hobbies (e.g collecting foreign notes, tai chi (excuse spelling)& Tottenham Hotspur F.C)....(you know who you are!!!???) The bloody subject was a scarey mess, everything we learnt was from home study only. One of my good friends was picked by the AAT to meet the External Verifiers to show her portfolio and to discuss her opinions of the course, needless to say she told them a few home truths.
Nothing surprises me with regards to courses - just make sure you're opinions are heard by the College / Training centre, failing that get in touch with the AAT and inform them that the tuition is practically non-existant!
    Good Luck!
