Hi
Does anyone have any advice on learning the formulas for PEV variances. Im afraid to say that although i have got this far my maths has never been very good and i have passed all my exams just by going over past papers and learning the format etc. Do you think this will be ok for PEV? Variances just seem as clear as mud at the moment!!!
RE DFS do you think it is necessary to learn all those IAS,s?? If so what method does anyone have for learning these?? It seems alot of learning just for maybe one short question. I wonder how many marks it would involve losing??
Thanks
Anne

Re:PEV and DFS
Hi
Regarding DFS; I don't believe it is necessary to learn every IAS although if you have time you should.
I didn't have time, therefore I learnt the most likely six and spent more time on ratios as these are half of section 2 and you have to pass both sections.
I felt that I could learn two or three topics in the time it would take me to learn ALL the standards, and when time is short you have to make choices.
I took DFS in December and so had to learn FRS's and SSAP's instead. My tutor spent far too long on these standards in expense of some other topics. Only two standards were on the exam yet we only spent one lesson on Cash Flow Statements including the reconcilliation of operating profit to net cash flow, and we didn't even practice journals or consolidated P&L accounts.
Just my opinion though.

Re:PEV and DFS
i wrote them all in a jotter and got my boyfriend to test me on them.
