I have just read Peugeot's thread about "In over my head" and I saw another about colleges in Bristol on the general part of the forum
I think this is a good place to say something nice about my tutors when I was at Chichester College
I remember Sandy Hood Barbara Darby Sue Davey Edwards and a lady called Linda
They were fantastic and I am sure they deserve a lot of the creditr for my success.
Thanks guys

Re:Good Tutors
I agree,
BPP have come under such criticism on these forums over the last few weeks. Maybe they deserve it though!
However, my experience with BPP was totally different. I did AAT and ACCA with them and cannot fault them in any way. BPP Manchester was excellent - the tutors there were not only experts in their subjects but made even the most boring of subjects (Auditing) quite light-hearted.
I would have no hesitation in recommending BPP (especially the Manchester Centre) to any prospective student.0 -
Re:Good Tutors
It can get a bit depressing reading other people's tales of woe with their learning providers - it also makes me angry that there are people and colleges that just aren't doing their jobs properly. Even more so when I consider that I've had nothing but a positive experience from the tutors I've had at Truro College. They've been professional, motivated and motivating, they work us hard but we have a good laugh too.
I'm all for naming and shaming the colleges and DL companies that aren't up to scratch - but it's worth remembering that the majority of learning providers aren't like that and I think it's sometimes good to write about positive experiences as well as negative ones.

Re:Good Tutors
Sorry, I asked what a DL company was - I was having a thick moment - Distance Learning Company.
Too much alcohol - not enough lager!0 -

Peugeot,
Don't worry about that. I am told that There are three types of accountants today: Those who can count, and those who can't!"

Re:Good Tutors
LOL :-)
Can I just point out that the criticisms towards BPP mainly relate to the home study courses and the lack of support, their taught courses may be entirely different!0 -
Re:Good Tutors
I am studying AAT with BPP at the moment. The taught courses are brilliant as are the course notes but I'm having to do a couple of units as home study.
I received the material over 2 weeks ago and it included a letter which stated a personal tutor would be assigned to me within the next couple of days and contact me to ensure everything was ok. 2 weeks later ... still waiting for that call. Luckily I'm not struggling too much at the moment and I'm getting a lot more help and support from the people around me at work.0 -
Re:Good Tutors
Hi,
I am studying with System Group who are based in Carlisle in Cumbria and I can find no faults with them, if I send my work to them I always hear back from them within 2-3 days. And if my tutor is on holiday then I will receive feed back from a different tutor. At one point I was on the verge of giving up because I felt I was so far behind but with the help of my tutors I didn't and wnet onto complete my Foundation.

Re:Good Tutors
The problem with BPP may be the same as the problem I encountered with FTC - they seem to place a lot of emphasis on their revision/taught courses as these are the "money makers". Home Study does make money for them, but tutors can only respond when they have a "free 5 minutes" between lectures and then they might forget.
As Annette (BlueWednesday) cited - they are probably excellent at their taught/revision courses but abismal at home study. I still think BPP Manchester are fantastic though!
Good luck guys whichever route you take - you'll get their in the end.0 -
Re:Good Tutors
There is another post (I think it's on the general forum). A BPP tutor has replied to a thread about various complaints in relation to BPP. Perhaps its worth a look.
The Thread is entitled "BPP Home Study".

Re:Good Tutors
Hi lollypops,
That post made my weekend! Not only did it do that but it just emphasises why these forums exist.
Thanks for those comments - it means a lot to get such positive feedback.
In terms of becoming a tutor - I have thought about it in the past but no! I studied with BPP for years and the tutors there work such long hours - I'm sure they sleep there! They never seem to have any time off.
Once again lollypops thanks for those comments and good luck in the next couple of weeks if you're waiting for your results.
Kind regards
Steve0
