Audit Simulation

Does anyone know if it is possible to complete the Audit module without completing the simulation, and just using audits carried out at work. I have been working in Internal Audit for nearly four years and could use my audits to complete my portfolio, so do I have to sit the simulation as my tutor cannot observe me during work hours?
Hope that makes sense?

The way I understand how we gain the AAT technician qualification is that if auditing is one of the two optional subjects you choose to do from the four offered, you need to sit the simulation in order to show competence. You could not pass it on work based experience.

    Hi

I think it depends on your tutor; i got the option to do work based audit instead of simulation, but as i don't do auditing as part of my work it would have been quite difficult for me (even though i thought of doing work experience with our internal auditors...) so i opted for the sim in the end.

maybe if you get a manager to sign off your audit work and do a specific audit that covers most of the syllabus (PCs and skills & knowledge) then your tutor might accept this for your portfolio, and have some extra questions/oral answers for things that aren't covered by your audit?

you should prob talk to your tutor for more info!

    Re:Audit Simulation

Until very recently i worked in internal audit for 7 years with the NHS. I thought i would be able to use work based evidence rather than sit the simulation, but the AAT simulation is based more on the work External audit would carry out, and so my work based evidence would not have covered many of the areas required to pass this subject. I would sit the simulation if I were you, it is very easy and means it is done in one sitting and at least you know if you have covered all the competancies, etc. Most of it is common sense. Good Luck! :)
