Hi,

I really want to start my project, but how!

Any good ideas or logical step-by-step plan on where to start??

I've got a subject but I'm just lost as to how to begin, what do I tackle first?

    Hi Scott,

I have done, I think that might be problem, over-loaded on reading the criteria! A bit over-whelming.

A SWOT analysis might be a good place to start I think?

It's just that scary moment of putting pen to paper and trying to make a start.

    Good Luck everyone x :?

    DEFINITELY do a SWOT analysis.
If possible you ought to try to do the assessment project rather than think of your own - that way all the needed facts are given to you and you just have to decide how to present them.

Once you get going you will be surprised how difficult it is to keep UNDER the 4000 words, trust me.

    Re:Unit 10 Project

I get the impression that the AAT discourage people from doing the assessment project, as they say do it only as a last resort if you really can't do your own?

If anyone is struggling to find a subject, as I was, the BPP textbook says: "If it is not possible to use one or more of the conventional accounting sections such as payroll, purchase ledger, sales ledger, costing etc, you may be able to choose an area that process non-financial information in some form."
But I agree, doing the assessment project would be easier as a lot of the groundwork has already been done.

Yes, they do say that. I think it's because the assessment route

    IS EASIER

Take my word for it, go with your feelings and use the force, Lua

    Hi

The osbourne book was quite good it tells you to write your organisation background first as that is stuff you can easily do and like others have said once you put pen to paper you'll get going fine.

I really studied the performance critera and worked out what I could do to fill them in, made bullet point notes.

I'm nearly there now and it wasn't so bad at all just really hard to keep in word limit.

    Re:Unit 10 Project

When I did my project I started with the SWOT analysis and found that once I had done that bit the actual writing of the report became much easier. With each bit scribble yourself little notes as to how you would improve each of the areas and how you could implement this and then build your report around that.

Once you get going you will find you can manage 4000 words easily and the problem is probably stopping it going massively over that.

    Good luck.

    Unit 10 Project

    Hi,

SWOT Analysis = Strengths Weaknesses Opportunities Threats

What sort of questions would be asked for Opportunities and Threats?

    Re:Unit 10 Project

Opportunities- possible investment opportunities (external only, internal is strengths), depends what you are writing about your theme, if it's on sales or purchase leder, payroll, systems that are available that would make your organisation effecient/economically/effective etc. Specialised staff, that you can poach from competitors, Materials you can purchase more economically elseway, switching suppliers, enter a new market with a new product(increasing market share). For opportunities first thing you have to do is watch your competitors, monitor all these things, to cut costs and increase sales in your organisation.

Threats- this would be fraud, external threats outside your organisation that could affect your company (internal will be weaknesses and external are Threats), perhaps takeovers, competitor taking your market share, buying shares in your company to instigate a takeover/control in your organisation, Directors are always interested in these, again competitors actions, which could threaten your orgnisation.

    Re:Unit 10 Project

When you write your project, keep cross referencing back to the range statements and K&U points you need to cover and you will find it much easier.

I came up with a rough idea for my project and then as I wrote it I made sure I covered each point on the assessment sheet - as has been said, the hardest thing is keeping in the word limit yet covering all the points!!
