I am a single young man aged 30 years, currently studying towards my second stage of ACCA Professional Chartered Accounting and a qualified Accounts Technician, currently unemployed. I have worked within the accounting department in South Africa for five years however since I relocated to England in 2003 I am having difficulties to acquire employment either as a junior clerk, accounts clerk or even ledger role. I am looking for a company that will manage to help me secure a position or unpaid work, as this is essential for my full membership on AAT and after completing my ACCA studies.

I am prepared to offer sixteen hour of my time to a voluntary role within the finance or administration departments for an ongoing agreement “long-term”. I gained substantial experience liaising with creditor, debtors, preparing month end statements and sales ledger roles such as invoicing. I worked as an account assistant within the accounts department as part of a team and overseer of three members of the team, which equipped me with interpersonal skills to manage to communicate effectively with all level of people.
I am a reliable, determined and enthusiastic person who will relish the opportunity to work if I am given the opportunity. It has been hard for me for the past two and half years as I have registered with all employment agencies in Wigan and surroundings areas but still been told we are looking for a suitable position. In this process of challenge I have always illuminate, throughout it all, I have never lost confidence- confidence that I absorb had made me fulfil my academically goals. My long-term goal is to be a qualified Chartered Accountant within the next two years.

During my social time I have a passion for cricket and rugby and listening to music of all genres. My ongoing hobbies include running, gym, which help me to be motivated in doing my studies and travelling when ever possible.
I will be delighted if you give me a chance to prove my ability and show the skills, talent I have as well learn from the best within your organisation.

My ACCA membership number is 1003273 & AAT is 10064780 if you wish to contact both of these organisations about my reference toward my studies you have got my permission to do so.

The problem you have is similar to others on these forums. Experience v qualifications is a very common problem in which AAT qualified's and even ACCA qualified's come across quite frequently.

It is undoubtable that your profile markets yourself quite highly. Your desire to work in an accounting environment is unquestionable - the problem is finding it! Whilst your profile is extremely high whatever you do you must NOT undercut yourself. I am not a recruitment expert by any stretch of the imagination but don't get fobbed off by Agencies. People on these forums know only too well that I am not a lover of Agencies. They can send you for interviews which are wholly inappropriate to your needs and circumstances and do it purely for their own merit (i.e. commission).

I sympathise with your circumstances and agree that it can sometimes be hard finding a job - but you must not give up! There are a number of people on these sites who have the same problem. It is important that you continue marketing yourself and not to give up. However, it is also important that you tell these Agencies right from the start what you want NOT what they want!

    Good luck.

    Regards
    Steve

    HI

    I am also South African.

I have been here for three years now. The first two years I studied full time to get my AAT.

Since then i went home for two months and now I returned as my husand is in Uni here in the UK.

I had the same problem as you are having now, I could not get a job it was you dont have enough experiance and so on.

The thing you have to do is worry the agencies send your CV to all the companies you can think off, Get hte news paper and send your CV to everyone BIG and SMALL companies.

IT is all inhte way you sell yourself.

Dont work for nothing it is not worth it how will you make the basic payments for living.

I Phoned the agency everyday and when i could i would go ing and see them.

And I now have a ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT position because i did not give up.

All the best to you and hope you find something soon

Thankx for your replies Guyz< as i said i will never give up even if it means to leave this country i will do so!!!

Stefsai i spend more than £150 on telephone bill every month calling angencies and companies. The reason i want to work for nothing is because i know i will be able to do a part-time social care weekend jobs. I have been employed by Community care group but believe me i do apply for internal positions but still they won't give me even a Adimin, Data entry position within the company.
