For the first time ever I have received an invoice through the post informing me my AAT membership is due for renewal. I have never had one before and as I am doing day release I thought all my funding was paid for. Help?????? :?:

    Hi Mate

Dont 100% follow you. Are you on a modern apprenticeship scheme? In my case, the college who I started the MA with refunded me the cost of the aat fees. I paid them initially, then claimed it back from them. They in turn claimed it back from the government I guess.

Apart from your college fees being paid by funding you have to pay for yearly membership to AAT. If you haven't had to pay it before then speak to however funds you. They maybe have forgotten to pay or maybe they don't pay that bit for you.

Wish someone would pay my fees!

I am also doing day release, and have always had to pay my own AAT fees (then claim them back from my employer)

My college has always made it clear that we are responible for our own AAT membership and exam fees.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks guys,

So in effect your getting stung twice, once by paying to be an AAT member and secondly by paying for exams!

yeah they sure have you by the short and curly's cause if you dont renew your aat membership you cant sit the exams anyway, so that means a whole studing for nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so dont delay cause if they have a back log of memberships renewals, how can you apply to sit for your exams!!!

It is hardly "getting stung". The AAT is a professional body and as such its members support it through payment of membership fees which enables it to support us all as members and students and to give us a qualification/title we can be proud of.

All exams have to be paid for regardless of what they are for so paying to take the AAT exams is no different.

All professional bodies charge membership fees and examination fees.

If you are being sponsored by a company you are probably lucky enough to get these payments refunded or paid for you. If you are not getting your membership paid for by your employer then you can claim tax relief on it - contact your tax office and let them know - it doesn't cover the total cost, but it is a little bit of help.
