SWOT Analysis ? Can anyone help?

Hi All,

I am currently working on my project (unit 10).

I am getting very confused with SWOT analysis. I am trying to implement a new system where a spreadsheet can be imported to our accounting system.

I understand Strenghs & Weaknesses but I'm getting confused under the terms Opportunities & Threats.

I can think of S & W for the current system in place but i cant think of O & T. I can for the new system but isnt SWOT analysis to be assessed on the current?

Can anyone help?

    Depending on what subject your project is on then threats could be fraud or possible theft if it something to do with cash. A threat could also be IT related - say you have a system you don't take a back up of and the original disappears.

    Hi

    Under opportunities I was advised to put your ideas for improvement as it will be enhancing the business ie put your details about why you are using the spreadsheet import and what benefits it has over old methods.

    Hi

    Yes its a bit of a pain, especially getting it to fit all the criteria and not go too much over the word limit. But you will be suprised you will soon get it done and then you can forget about it.

    I felt thoroughly fed up of mine at one stage but it all came together and has actually improved some of the work I do so it was alright in the end.

    PS I seem to spend more time preparing for exams than on coursework elements so I'm not a fan of having anymore, but were all different. :wink:
