Info Needed on Financial Accounting Units

Hi all,

I am currently studying Intermediate level, however due to work and home pressures I'm seriously having to re-think the way I study.

I have gone self-employed and really enjoy financial accounting, management accounting really doesn't seem to stick in my mind, and to be truthful it is an area I really do not want to concentrate on at all.

In order to continue to work effectively in my business, and to help relieve some of the pressures I am currently faced with, I thought maybe it would be better to concentrate solely upon the financial accounting units. This way I would have the solid grounding I require and I could then take all the management accounting levels at a later date (ie when youngest is at school Sep 07)in order to pass the whole AAT Course.

Is this a good idea?? Can it be done?? If so,what units at Technician level would I need to study. I am currently at college, but I will home study the remaining units I need as I doubt my college will allow me to continue to the next level without passing all of the Intermediate course.

I really would appreciate anyones advice, as currently I am like a headless chicken! I am trying to combine working with studying and looking after 3 young children, and I know unless something gives I will reach breaking point!!!

Cheers guys

Tracy

    Hi Tracy.

With Technician level there are compulsory units which you have to take, then options such as tax, auditing and credit control. You also have to complete 'the project'.

There is no time limit (unless the standards change); you can do it at your own pace. If you do the tax papers bear in mind that all the figures change after the budget.
