How do i get my first accounts position ???

i am 38 (not exactly old) but i cannot seem to get my first accounts job. I have worked on the shopfloor all my career so far in supervisory roles.
I thought doin AAT would be a good investment for the future but after almost completing my first year i am not so sure.
I am ECDL qualified so i know my way around an office. All the agencies want experience. All the trainee positions want under 25's.
What am i to do ?????? :?

Any suggestions would be greatfully received. :D

    People probably think you're over-qualified for a trainee position. It might be best to look for part-qualifed Accounts Assistant type jobs rather than going through an agency.

    Can you not get experience by doing voluntary work and take it from there??

    Have you written to accountants explaining your position and that you are first year qualified etc. I have had problems the other way in that im not even first year qualified! perhaps we should swap areas?! ha ha :lol:
