Studying Technician from home

Hi,
Im actually studying Intermediate at the moment with exams to take in June.
Up to now I've been lucky as I am studying at a local college and my employer has been sponsoring me for this as I work in the firm's finance department.
There's been a change in my personal circumstances, which may mean that I will have to work part-time instead of full-time.
Im thinking the company may pull out of sponsoring me, even though they stated I was a 3 year project Foundation - Technician.
So I am wondering how much it costs for me to study at home from books etc. I really don't want to end AAT at intermediate.
Any advice would be much appreciated. Louise

Re:Studying Technician from home
Hi Louise.
Check out BPP's website - this has prices on for distance learning, and also check out the prices at your local college. There might not be that much difference in price.

Hi
From what I have seen of prices, distance learning may not be that much cheaper than a local technical college, so have a look around.
Also have a look at Premier Training and FTC Kaplan.

Hi Matthew
It is not a cheap alternative to study from home, as my technician course with ftc cost £650 2 years ago. I would say though that you need commitment as it is really hard to come from work and start studying and to keep motivated. I have done it now in total for 3 years(inc intermediate) and it is now becoming too much.
Best of luck with whatever you decide

Re:Studying Technician from home
Hi
Don't forget to add in the cost of skills tests (if you take that route, exams and AAT membership as it can really bump up the basic course cost if it is not included (I'm with premier and these cost aren't included but basic price may be lower not sure). Home study does require a lot of organisation and commitment but its not forever. Hopefully your workplace will be good enough to follow through their initial investment - they will benefit from it even if you are part-time.
Good luck, Torix0
