What do I do now?

I have entered the exams for June. I'll be doing PEV PCR and DFS.
I like DFS and I have plenty of practice at work including consolidating limited company accounts and my work has been really helpful sending me on training courses for the International Accounting Standards.
But PEV and PCR yuggh. What is the point?
Variances, budgets, marginal costing statements!! They are just not relevant to me. I've asked at work, nobody likes them. Why I decided to take these exams I don't know.
How can I get some help?

Re:What do I do now?
Some very helpful 'posters' sent me some memory guides for PEV. If you post your email address, I will send them to you. I struggle with these too! :roll:0 -

Thanks Jackie

Do you know any good short courses anywhere that I could go on?

Re:What do I do now?
Have sent them, so hope you get them ok. Re courses, a couple of people hold these, and somewhere down in the posts they have talked about them. Dig down the forum and you might find some help. I think Peugot does them, so if you find that name, have a look at what he says.

Re:What do I do now?
Hi
I can certainly recomend BPP revision courses. I actually did one for DFS towards the end of 2004 and it was great.
As for deciding to take the PEV and PCR exams, unfortunately this stuff is part and parcel of any accouting qual! The only counsel I can offer is that knowledge of cost behaviour and budgeting could be useful in the future - either as part of the work you may be doing or being a position of having bugetary and cost responsibilty.

Re:What do I do now?
To Jackie Please could you send me a copy of your memory guides for PEV my email address is heathermcox@hotmail.com
thank you0 -
Re:What do I do now?
Thank you Jackie
and everyone else who has responded
A question to anyone who has been in my situation.
Have you ever been on a course at BPP or at Peugot?
Were they any good for PEV or PCR?
I think my DFS should suit the work I do everyday so I'm not worried about that.

Jessica
I think that is the second time you have given me good press. Thank you. Remember though that you passed because you worked hard.
Tinkerbell you have not specified where in the country you are
I have 5 weekends pencilled in (each has a link to the revision forum)
22-23 April Manchester (definitely going ahead but still has some places available on each day)
http://www.aat.org.uk/forums/posts/list/10366.page#48337
29 30 April Bristol/Bath at present numbers are low so will possibly go ahead
http://www.aat.org.uk/forums/posts/list/10828.page
6 7 May Croydon enquiries are good but I am waiting for confirmations. I think there will be viable numbers to go ahead.
http://www.aat.org.uk/forums/posts/list/10965.page
13 14 May Oxford enquiries are good and I have asked for confirmation.
http://www.aat.org.uk/forums/posts/list/11008.page
20 21 May Chichester a few enquiries - but likely to go ahead as this is near my home

Re:What do I do now?
Oh why not.... faerie_grrrll@hotmail.com
I completely 100% agree with the first poster, What is the point of Costing?!
I'm doing Tax Returns, I will never use Costing, and if I don't pass AAT it will be because of Costing. ARGH!!!!
Sorry, bad day at college.
I hate Variances!
That is all.
Thanks. :oops:0 -

Re:What do I do now?
I have added a list of the revision weekends for PEV PCR as I have added a few more dates.
Some people do both days others do one or the other.
13 14 May Oxford enquiries are good and anyone wanting to come should contact me very quickly.
http://www.aat.org.uk/forums/posts/list/11008.page
20 21 May Chichester a few enquiries still some places available
http://www.aat.org.uk/forums/posts/list/11009.page
27 28 May Bath Numbers are good and this will go ahead still some places available
4 June Croydon PEV I think there will be viable numbers to go ahead. still some places available
I am investigating the viability of an ECR day for intermediate on 3rd June and have suggested 2 venues one of which is Croydon

Re:What do I do now?
I think I have sent them to everyone who has asked, so re-post if I have missed you. Not close enough to any of the revision courses, but thanks Sandy for your help with PCR last December. Just BTC, PEV and DFS to go - groan :roll:0 -
