Please can anyone tell me whether direct materials when completing job costing is VAT inclusive or the net figure. Any help would be much appreciated.

    If you are VAT registered then no the VAT won't be included (as you will reclaim that money back), but if you are not registered then it is a cost to you, and you will include it.
