Help with Payback!!!!

Could anyone explain payback for me & how to work it out??
Beacuse i have had a very thin handout on it which isnt very helpfull!!!

    If you pay cash now for an asset, the payback period is the time it takes to generate the cash flow back that pays back what have paid out.
