Help required please!

Dear All,

my husband dropped some life changing news on me last night and I have my exam in 4 days. Don't get me wrong, it is good news but I feel sick to my stomach that I won't be able to concentrate on my exam. Any tip/hints would be useful, I was prepared for the exam and feeling calm now I am a bit wrecked and may think about postponing it rather than taking it and failing?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    The PS bit first - because their male and seem to be able to just switch off whenever they want.

    As to the exams I would just go ahead with them, what have you got to lose? If you don't take them the last few weeks of study will be totally wasted. You should be able to switch into exam mode and forget everything else when your sat in front of the paper.

    you are right, I don't want to waste the last 6 months and I will probably go ahead with the exam and again you are right, I will hopefully go into exam mode although it is ECR with lots of calculations to remember.......! :?

    No big secret guys :lol: My husband has landed a dream job with big bucks in Saudi and discovered I can go permanently with him rather than just visiting (he wasn't going to abandon me, we had worked out a strategy!!!)and if I go, I can be a lady of leisure for as long as I want......
    See my dilemma??????

    My head is so full at the moment, I really didn't stop to think anyone would be interested!!!
    Oh well, on study leave tomorrow, watch the football saturday, watch the British GP Sunday, do exam Monday!

    I just felt I had to join in this conversation as I find myself in pretty much the same situation. I have been struggling with this as a mature student (and I mean mature I am 56!). I am doing it distance learning and find it very difficult to motivate myself. Recently my husband was contacted by an ex colleague about a job abroad and this weekend he has gone for an interview. He has been with the same company for nearly 40 years so you can imagine what a big move this will be for us. If he gets the job we have decided that I will stay here. I haven't been able to concentrate on anything else for weeks now. I think I may have to abandon the exam and do it in December. Anyway, best of luck to you all in the exams next week and good luck to you X5wrangler in your new life in Saudi!!

    Saudi sounds fab, wish my other half could get a job abroad somewhere like that, i'd go tomorrow

    Take the exam, if you do fail which Im sure you wont you cant take all your time studing whilst abroad, wish I had the opportunity, you can use time to progress in all studies. My freind recently did visit to area and met several ex-pats there but they do nothing which I think is waste my other friend some years ago did degree whilst aboard and with no other pressures enjoyed it all. go for it all!! :lol:
