When I do the first task of the past papers, finding the missing figures, when i finish the T account I always b/d my figure so that i know what figure I have to post to the trial balance, although it doesn't say to do it, would I lose marks for doing it.

Hopes this makes sense.

When I took my FRA exam I was always told to head up your t account, bring down and carry forward any balances, date and a brief decription of transactions.

You are doing more than you are asked, so how can you loose marks? You are likely to loose marks if you dont.

    No you won't lose marks.
In fact if you do happen to make a mistake in your TB, your T accounts which are your workings will show how you arrived at your figures. This could mean you gaining marks for understanding and only losing a mark for an incorrect answer.

I too was also told make sure you head up your accounts clearly and always balance them off - bringing forward and carrying forward figures as necessary unless the question states otherwise.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Thanks thats great, i find that if you balance them off, you dont tend to transfer the wrong figure over to the trial balance.

    Thanks again Aly
