Re:aat and cima
Best to start AAT I think, I looked at CIMA and really you'll need to do AAT first as you're likely to struggle if you don't know your double entry.0 -
Re:aat and cima
Hi
Its really up to you. The CIMA syllabus starts of from scratch and plenty of people go on to it from A levels and (non-relevant) degress, but it wont spend as much time on the more routine/general accounting skills.
As for the double entry knowledge, I dont think you would actually learn more about it on AAT but you prbably would practice it more throughout AAT. Also, although double entry can be a tricky concept and it is important to understand it, it isnt the be all and end all of accounting.
You could study both at the same time, but that ould double you workload.

Re:aat and cima
Hi
I'm an AAT foundation lecturer at college and I studied AAT then went onto CIMA. If you pass your technician stage you actually get excemptions from the first level of CIMA. I personally would recommend that you do AAT first to get a good working knowledge of the basics and then carry on with your studies after technician level. If you study both AAT and CIMA at the same time you would probably be duplicating quite a lot of work.0 -
