    Can I just check the following about pensions:

    1) Employers pension contributions are ignored.
    2) Employees contributions to a work pension are deducted from the Employment Income.
    3) Contributions to a non-work pension are left out of the Employment Income calculation, but the grossed up figure is used to raise the basic tax band maximum like gift aid.

    Is this correct?

    Jane,

    That's my understanding. Although with the amount of mistakes I have made in the BTC I wouldn't take my word as 100% accurate.
