Software for publishing Accounts

In the past our final accounts have traditionally been published by our auditors. But every year we find ourselves having to reconcile our internal accounts to the published accounts after they have posted entries and altered things without letting us know!

I have been tasked to look for software that we could use to bring the publication back 'in house'.

We would either import our final numbers into (from a Peoplesoft package), or just hard type them, which will then lay them out in approved format with all of the footnotes etc in place. This software would have to be updated periodically for changes in legislation either through the internet or new discs etc.

We are a medium size UK group of Companies which are part of a worldwide group.

I've looked online and gotten in touch with a few potential suppliers, but haven't found anything suitable yet. Does anyone have any suggestions or sources?

Thanks
Pat

    Hi Pat

I work in practice and we use VT Software for most of our clients' accounts. This software is updated when there are changes in legislation etc.

    The website is:

    http://www.vtsoftware.co.uk

    Hope this is helpful

Thanks, have already been in touch with them (it looks like good software), but unfortunately they tell me it's not suitable for consolidated accounts.

Have you come across this as being a problem?

    Thanks

We don't to do many consolidated accounts. We do alter the format of the VT Accounts for some clients. This is relatively straightforward if you have a bit if Excel knowledge. Other people sometimes provide customised formats (e.g. Charities), but I have yet to come upon a consolidated companies format.

I was looking at IRIS Software a couple of weeks ago. The link below is to their website, which allows companies to produce Financial Statements in-house, and "consolidations are also catered for"

    http://business.iris.co.uk/products/exchequer_from_iris_enterprise/accounts_production.aspx

I do not have any experience with this software, but I have heard it is straightforward to use. It may be worth a look at.
