How much to charge?
System

I am in full time employment as a Management Accountant, but have been asked by one of our suppliers (a fairly new company) to set up their Sage Accounts system for them on a self employed basis.
I am not sure how much to charge as I haven't been in this position before. Does anyone have any opinion on what a reasonable hourly rate would be?
Maybe I should just agree a fixed price - any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re:How much to charge?
I would certainly do the work on an agreed hourly rate. If you give a fixed rate they could require additional reports being produced etc. and you would have shot yourself in the foot straight away.
As to rates, well you can say a bookkeeping rate between £10-£15 per hour. I would of thought thats reasonable.

I work fo an accounting software company, but this is all in my humble opinion:
1) charge alot more than £10-15 I can assure you companies often charge ten time that amount.
2) Don't do a fixed charge! Computers are unpredicatable and you may get roped into all sorts of set up issues that you hadn't expected.

Re:How much to charge?
The accountant I work for charges £100 - £150 plus expenses per day to set up a company on sage.
I would also agree before you start exactly what it is they want you to do and base your rate on that, also take into account the experience you have in setting up companies.
I would also warn them should they require additional work, there will be an extra charge for this.0 -
Re:How much to charge?
Dean mate I know you can only take my word for it but for on site software installation/training the company I work for charges £850 per day.
They're not accountants rates we are a software company, we just happen to write and sell accounting software.0
