Progression to Intermediate

:? Hi, I started the Foundation course last year and took the exam in June. I know that I only have to complete computerised accounts and health & safety to finish this course. Most people on my course however are starting Intermediate this sep. I cant afford to start it early and can only finish off my Foundation. Am I wasting my time spending a whole year just doing computers and health and safety? Should I take out a loan to cover the cost of Intermediate? I am about to start doing voluntary work with an accountant to gain some experience. Should I stick to just finishing off my Foundation course and starting the Intermediate in Sep 07? Confused as to which would be best, could anyone offer some advice????

Re:Progression to Intermediate
Health and Safety & Working with Computers are both modules that you have to complete at Intermediate if you haven't already done them so I would say that you should be able to start Intermediate in September. If you don't I would say that you would be wasting a year.
If you are starting Voluntary work then this should help you with your H&S module. Does your college do a simulation for Working with Computers - we did this & it covered all the criteria.
Hopoe that helps!
Good luck!

Disclaimer: This is only my personal opinion. No offence is intended, nor will any be perceived if anyone disagrees.
Yes, I believe it would be a waste to delay the Intermediate. Find a way around the obstacles.
I have found it very difficult to find a new job as a AAT part-qualified; I intend to get through mine as fast as possible so that I can move on from my current, rather mediocre, job.
If you are concerned about difficulty, the Working with Computers unit is actually very simple. In fact, my college ran a simulation that covered both the working eith computers module and the computers requirements of unit 7 (Preparing Reports and Returns). Several students from my college did this as they had not sat foundation.
Equally, Health and Safety is not particularly challenging.
The financing issue is an important one. I would recommend you try to find the money or a way around the obstacle. A loan is an option, but can you find an employer willing to support? Perhaps your college offers grants or bursaries? There is a section of the main website that may interest you:
