Help - Complaint to college?

Hi,
I am really not sure what to do. I recently wrote a letter into Accounting Technician about the enrolment criteria for the AAT courses.
Basically although I have A levels and finance experience, when enrolling last year they would not allow me to start at Intermediate level even though that was what I really wanted to do. The Accounting Technicians response, although it sat on the fence, confirmed what I had suspected. I should have been able to start at Intermediate.
As I am self funding my studies I find this really gutting that I have spent all that money when I could have bypassed the year. Do you think I would get anywhere if I complained to my college?

Re:Help - Complaint to college?
I think it depends on what your A levels and experience relate to. You need a good grounding in double entry book keeping to start at intermediate level. Student friends of mine have done this with accounting experience and/or accounting A level and they have managed very well. Do they know what your finance experience involves? You could offer to teach yourself the basics over the summer.
Good luck with the college and your studies

My colleague had A Levels when she started AAT. She started at Intermediate but really struggled with grasping double-entry and basic book keeping. This is probably why your college started you with Foundation. It's better to do one year more than end up doing the same year twice if you fail!0 -

Hiya
I have A Levels and a degree and part of my degree is finance. However, I still started at Foundation. I have learnt so much more than if I had started at intermediate. Foundation is basically the grounding work for all the other levels. Only you can decide what you think is best - but I am glad I started at the bottom!
