Can you mix and match Diploma/NVQ?

Hi all

Recently just taken the June exam for the Diploma route certificate level. I did it through FTC and it was a distance learning course.

My problem is for the next level I am thinking of going to college. But all the colleges near to me only do the NVQ pathway. Can you mix and match NVQ with the diploma?

Also I am only 50/50 about going to college. With distance learning I found it hard to motivate myself/be disciplined but I love the flexibilty that it has to offer. Also if I stick with the diploma for the next level I don't have to build up a portfollio (which to me sounds like a lot of hard work!)

Its annoying that we don't get our exam results till August...because if I pass I would be more inclined to progress the distance learning way but I have to apply for colleges now...otherwise there might not be a place for me come Sept.

Any advice?

    Hiya

Mine is the other way around. I am studying at college and have completed foundation as NVQ. The next 2 years, the college has decided to opt for the diploma route - so yes its fine to do this. The diploma was designed for people that are not working in the finance environment, which is why NVQ levels need to complete a portfolio. Yes the portfolio is a bit of a pain but if you keep on top of it, it does not become a problem.

As with deciding to go to college - I think only you can decide on that - I know that if I did distant learning, I wouldn't do anything. With college, you have the tutors and other fellow collegues to ask help from.

Good Luck with whatever you decide

    Hi

Apply now and if you decide on distance learning, withdraw your place before september.
