Extra Work..

Hi,

can anyone please help me? I'm seriously considering doing an extra unit for the Technician Level when I start in September.

My college has decided which units we are doing and rather then 'missing' out, as I don't know which course to take after AAT, I'm deciding wether to do the Auditing Unit, which they're not doing. The college have said that it would be self study, which I don't mind, and they would get the assessments for me to do. I'm not even sure if its a skills test or exam?!

Does anyone thinks this is a good idea, or am I being a complete idiot (more then normal)? Also, how would AAT 'register' it? Would it show on my record of achievement? :?

Thanks for any advice!
Debs :)

    Hi Debs

You would have to sit a skills test for the Audit unit and you can get by with an assessment/textbook available from BPP or similiar. Once your college has approved your completed skills test the AAT will register it on your statement as competent.

I did the audit unit after failing Business Tax because I decided I couldn't revise for 3 exams

I wouldn't let it get in the way of your main studies though such as the DFS unit (which is big)

But then again it depends on how big your brain is!

    good luck

    Hi Debs,

I'm in a very similar situation. My college is teaching both the Tax units, and I want to do Audit and Credit Control as well. I've cleared it with my college and with AAT student services.

I am now studying unit 15 (Cash Management and Credit Control) from the Osborne textbook, and intend doing the same for unit 17 (Implementing Audit Procedures) between now and the start of them in September- sitting both of the skills tests before Christmas.

It should by specified in your 6-monthly statement of achievement thingy.

Also, passing one or other of the skills test units can act as an insurance policy: You only have to pass two units out of Units 15, 17, 18 and 19 so if you fail either of the taxation exams you can still pass overall.

I say embrace the challenge! Then again, I genuinely enjoy learning for its own sake...

    Good Luck

    Re:Extra Work..

    Hi,

I did both ccmc and auditing, cmcc was really just common sense and auditing was quite easy

We spent about 20 weeks of 3 hour lectures studying for both, when they could have really been done in 2

Good luck with what you choose

    Re:Extra Work..

    Thanks Everyone!

you've given me some great advice and I think I will be doing the extra. Like you said its a good fall back and I have to admit I do like studying (very sad I know but it keeps me sane between work, home and small one).

    Thanks!
