I am in great need of opinions!

I have been in my current role for 6.5 years and next year my position will be moving to my company's head office Denver, Colorado USA.

I spent 3 months out there from JAN-MAR this year and will be doing the same next year to help with the year end audit as well as doing my normal duties.

I have been given the opportunity to make a permanent move after this time. If I do not go, I will be made redundant.

I am currently studying CIMA Managerial level, 2nd paper. I would like any tips on whether I could carry this on out there (I am a distance learning student)& whether finding a new position here & completing my studies would be better than getting hands on experience of US GAAP and many other areas.

Its such a big decision to make!!!!

Please help!

    Hi there.

On a practical level, try contacting your learning provider to see if you can continue studying outside of the UK. Sitting exams may be an issue but the opportunity to work in the USA sounds good. Also bear in mind that there is a move to standardising accountancy between UK and USA.

On a personal level, what is your gut instinct? Do you have family/friends that you would miss dreadfully? How does the thougth of relocating feel? Is it only your studies that you are concerned about? Do you enjoy your current position and how long would it take to find another one here?

Lots of questions and I probably haven't answered yours! Good luck with whatever you decide...... and the decision may not be easy.
