Rubbish tutor - what can i do?

Hi

Can anyone give me any advice on what I should do?

I have passed the exams :D and I have completed everything else, skillstests and portfolio.

The only problem is I sat my last skillstest 6 weeks ago, and I still havent had my result back from my tutor. Everything else has been signed off except for this last one. I have emailed the tutor to no response and finally phoned to be told that its not been marked but not to worry im sure you will just get away with doing extra questions.
:x
As you can imagine like a lot of us I'm eager now with my exam results to go into work and say I have passed. But knowing how rubbish my tutor has been in the past at meeting deadlines I just dont know when i'm going to get the results or when they will be passed on to the aat for the statement of achievement. I dont know what to do now, any ideas?

I have just recieved my statement of achievement through the post just now and none of my other skillstest results or H&S/WWC have been submitted to the aat. Arrgghh what a joke...

Wow - 6 weeks is nothing. You are obviously not studying at BPP. It can take them three or four months to mark out simulations. How rubbish is that!!!!!

    3 or 4 months?! Wow!

I took my Unit 5 sim in January and have still not had anything back, despite constant moanings to BPP!! They keep claiming its in the pile to be marked, but I am under the impression they have lost it!!

Wow 8 months. Can I suggest we all write to the complaints people at AAT complaining about our relevant colleges. 8 months is unacceptable. BPP lost one of my sims and then told me I would have to resit it. When I complained to the AAT they said they would just have to grant me the grade. Then BPP found the paper IN READING - I don't even study in Reading!!!. I have say ( and it feels good to say it ) BPP ARE CRAP!

I have to agree - although BPP tutors are excellent they are sadly let down by the administration staff.

I have to agree that the BPP tutors are fantastic but everyone else there would not know what to do in an open house brewery! :)

Our tutors mark sims and give feedback within 2 weeks, always. If you call or post a query with them they always reply within 24 hours. Why not change to a different company then if they are that bad? Check out the new company by asking lots of questions.

I have to agree that sometimes BPP have let me down, and yes I have had problems to. But I heard the other day that all the rubbish staff at BPP have let and gone to another college so BPP can only get better. I also understand that because of AAT regulations BPP were having to send our sims all over the country to at least three different markers. I think this might have been something to do with quality control. So overall I don;t think it is BPPs fault when things take such a long time.

Of course it's bbp's fault. It's up to them to manage quality control isn't it? I think its cos they have too many students and perhaps not enough staff to manage their workload.

    Hi

I sat my ECR skills test and additional questions in May 2005 and it still hasn't been reported to AAT, neither has my FRA skills test and additional questions which I sat in November 2005!

My Statement of Achievement makes it look as though I've done nothing but sit the exams!

Now that's what I call rubbish, but that's BPP for you!

I suggest that everyone who is dissatisfied with BPP writes to the AAT Customer Services Dept to complain. If they get enough complaints, surely they will have to do some it about it.

    Re:Rubbish tutor - what can i do?

    Morning everyone

I have just taken over as the admin coordinator at BPP (London) - I'm aware that makes me the devil in this conversation :o)

Yes we have had some severe problems of late in regards to marking and reporting but the old team have now all left BPP - with the exception of 1 tutor, and a new team are in place. Obviously the problems we have had will not disappear overnight but they are getting better.

If any of you have any problems at all regarding contacting tutors or getting your work assessed then please email me katieusmar@bpp.com and I will answer your queries.

I hope that this helps all of you.

Congratulations to everyone who passed their exams in June :o)

    Re:Rubbish tutor - what can i do?

I'm currently taking a distance learning course with BPP but am really not impressed. Their administration is
poor although, to be fair their books are concise and explain things really well.
Have been waiting 3 months for skills test to be marked and rarely get satisfactory support for any queries or questions. Half emails are never answered and nobody seems to know what they are doing.
I'm am seriously considering changing to another distance learning company. Can anybody recommend another distance learning company?

    Re:Rubbish tutor - what can i do?

    Hi there,

Sounds like I am not alone in my problems with BPP. I am distance learning (payroll admin). I sent in my work experience stuff to get marked for Unit 21, 22/23 and 71/72/73. I took around 4 months to get back to me with the work. They said that they had lost one of the units so I sent it in again. They marked both the one they had lost and the second copy I sent in (eventually). When I got it back I had to send in the record sheets and sign every page of the work - so I suppose I will be waiting another 4 months. The exams is the easy bit of the course, the waiting is so frustrating. I did get a letter of apology saying they were sorting out their act but I am not taking the chance.

Next level I think I am going to try Premier Training as they seem to get a good reputation on the student forums. I e-mailed them and they got back to me the same day and were very helpful. Only thing is they charge about £23 for each simulation which puts up the cost a bit. I won't mind if I get them back quicker though.

    Re:Rubbish tutor - what can i do?

    Hi

I started the AAT back at the begining of 2003 and i've read dozens of similar comments about BPP distance learning.

Have a look at the second page of this thread: (http://www.aat.org.uk/forums/posts/list/15/9957.page). There is a post from a the Director of AAT Courses with her email address.

I've just read speegs post about BPP having to send sims 'all over the country'. This is in fact BPP's fault. Yes they have to have sims marked and moderated by more than one person, but most colleges have enough in-house staff to cope with this. BPP obviously don't and to testify to this there was an advertisment in a copy of Accounting Technician a few months back advertising for people to become markers for BPP, working from home.

I think maybe a group approach to the AAT on this could be in order. What I sugesst is a new thread in the genral students forum to post complaints, followed by an email to the AAT (perhaps to Claire Morely, Education Director) to draw their attention.
