Re:CIMA
Hi Lilly.
You need to register as a student with CIMA, and claim your exemptions.
You have missed the deadline for the December exams, so i would wait until the New Year.

Re:CIMA
Im not too sure, I think we are exempt from the whole foundation level, and have to sit all of the management and strategic level, although dont quote me on that?0 -
Re:CIMA
Yep, you go straight on to the second level if you have qualified AAT0 -
Re:CIMA
Thought so, do we get any exemptions from management level?0 -
Re:CIMA
It's only the first level you get exemption from I'm afraid - unless you have some other qualifications which may get you exemptions i.e. an accountancy degree.
Check on the website or give their student servs. a call to find out....0 -
Re:CIMA
Hi all,
How many level in total for CIMA?
Thanks

Re:CIMA
Three levels in total, so if you complete AAT you only have 2 to do. I say only, but still a lot of work!

Re:CIMA
Thanks for the reply. Do you know which papers in level 1? I mean the ones I can skip?
Thanks

Re:CIMA
It's all of the papers in level 1 - I think there are 3? 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3?0 -
Re:CIMA
Yea think thats right, then there are 6 in management and is it 4 in strategic?0 -
Re:CIMA
My apologies - AAT gets you exempt from the first level which is 5 papers.
There are 6 at the second/managerial level and 3 on the final/strategic level

Re:CIMA
And a final topcima paper in addition to the 6 and 30 -
Re:CIMA
If you have completed your AAT studies, you are exempt from the Certificate stage of CIMA - 5 computer based exams. The exemption fees are a bit pricey unfortunately.
The managerial stage encompasses 6 examinations (not computer based).
The strategic stage is a further 3 examinations (to be taken all together) and upon successful completion of this level there is TOPCIMA which is a case study type exam.
Its all quite demanding and time consuming and even then you are not finished as you will need to write a detailed practical experience report (with the relevant 3 years experience covered). This needs to be signed off by your employers.
Its a long journey but worth it in the end.0 -
Re:CIMA
This is not the case. You do not need to complete the strategic papers in one go. This is only with ACCA and they are actually changing this.
In regards to practical experience you will need to record 3 years worth with any body you chose to sit with, be it ACA, ACCA or CIMA.0 -
Re:CIMA
All my CIMA friends say you have to complete the core papers in one sitting, you get a referral if you fail one or two but you do have to sit them together.

Re:CIMA
When I was deciding whether to do ACCA or CIMA the only thing that persuaded me to do CIMA was that you did not have to sit the final 3 exams in one go. I actually wrote to the CIMA student services and they wrote back saying that you do not need to pass in one go. Whatever you pass, you get credit for!0 -
Re:CIMA
Sorry what I meant to say was that the first time you attempt them you need to sit them in one go. After that you can sit them in any order and on their own, keeping the credit for each one you pass.0 -
Re:CIMA
Agreed.
It's the same with ACCA as well until 20070 -
Re:CIMA
With ACCA is believe that it is sit all and pass in one go. If you fail two within a certain limit than you can attempt two more times.0 -
Re:CIMA
If I am mistaken, please correct me but with ACCA the syllabus and format is being tweaked slightly and from Dec '07 you will no longer need to sit the 3 papers together and pass in one sitting. So if you are starting ACCA now, it is unlikely you will be on part 3 before Dec '07 so need to worry, right?0 -
Re:CIMA
You are correct Bluewednesday.0 -
Re:CIMA
Does anyone know how much the exemption fees are for the first level of CIMA?
At the Managerial level, can you take the papers in any order or do you have to start at P1?0 -
Re:CIMA
I am sure the cost of the exemtions is on the CIMAglobal website.
The sequence of papers at CIMA doesn't matter, but I strongly recommend that you take P2 and P8 after or at the same time as doing P1 and P7 respectively because these build on the earlier knowledge.
Also be aware that every managerial exam can test both its own syllabus content AND the certificate level content. For AAT excempt candidates this can mean that topics from the Business Maths certificate syllabus appear in P1 or P2 exams for example. AAT exemptions are not identical to the certificate.
At Chichester our P8 Financial Analysis class starts on Friday 8 September
